Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT) Certification Training
(2026-2028)
Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT) emerged from the revolutionary work of philosopher and psychotherapist Dr. Eugene T. Gendlin at the University of Chicago, where he collaborated with Carl Rogers to explore the keys to therapeutic success. Honored with four prestigious awards from the American Psychological Association, Gendlin’s research revealed a profound insight: lasting change in therapy is not determined by techniques or theoretical frameworks, but by the client’s ability to access a "bodily felt sense"—an inner awareness of their lived experience. This discovery sparked global inquiry into how cultivating this embodied awareness fosters healing, growth, and resilience.
This rigorous two-year journey into the art and science of Focusing-Oriented Therapy, led by internationally renowned trainer Prof. Akira Ikemi, alongside Dr. Amos Cheung. Both trainers are Focusing Certifying Coordinators (CCs) of The International Focusing Institute (TIFI). Blending online modules, in-person workshops, and practice sessions, this training offers:
